Dear Playful Pooch Owners,

In light of recent concerns about the coronavirus we wanted to assure you that our team is following the latest guidelines and recommendations from health professionals and the government. We are on Denver’s list of essential businesses as a dog boarding facility. We are serving our customers who need us to take care of their dogs while they work. We want our staff, customers and the dogs to all be safe and healthy while dropping off or picking up at Playful Pooch. We are practicing social distancing and are in compliance with Governor Polis and Mayor Hancock’s most recent business restrictions.

We will remain open and welcome your pups during normal hours of operation. We are following our normal cleanliness standards for the facility and have added additional cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces that our staff and customers may come in contact with. We do have fewer dogs here due to people staying home, schools closing and trips being cancelled. You are welcome to just drop your leash near the front gate and we will take care of the rest. We have sanitizer on the front desk in case you should need to use the credit card machine or touch anything else.

Thank you in advance for being such loyal customers. We look forward to taking care of your pups now and in the future when we get through this difficult time.

Pooch Of The Week
Pooch of the Week: Biscuit

Biscuit

Meet Biscuit! She is a five year old Goldendoodle and has been visiting Playful Pooch since she was just a pup! She is very well behaved and playful at the same time. She loves coming to daycare and sometimes we think she is part human! She is a joy to have as part of our great group of dogs that come to play.

Denver has had several outbreaks of canine influenza and bordetella in the past few years.  Therefore dog owners must take every precaution to reduce the risk of respiratory illnesses by properly vaccinating for Bordetella every six months and Canine Influenza once a year along with Rabies and DHPP.  Due to Denver being considered a high risk area, national veterinarian associations, researchers at Cornell University and most local veterinarians strongly recommend this level of vaccinations.

Owners must also watch for any signs of respiratory illness with their dog or from any other dogs they come in contact with.  Respiratory illnesses are spread between dogs in public places in the same way as humans coming in contact with contagious people in public places.  Dogs are at a higher risk of exposure by going to dog parks, pet food stores, groomers and other places where dogs may not be properly vaccinated.   As owners of Playful Pooch, we are diligent about reviewing vaccination records and taking a conservative approach to their administration.  We require current Rabies and DHPP and Bordetella every six months and Canine Influenza once a year.  The initial Canine Influenza requires two vaccinations around three weeks apart, then once a year thereafter.

Our outside color cams are installed so you can watch your pal splash and play in the pools in the summer or plow through the snow in the winter.  Check out our new indoor "snout cam" for up close views of those playful pooches! We also have color cams for inside play when the weather is wet and dreary outside,
